Endovenous Therapies

Since 1998 the so called endovenous therapies are available.

The principle of the endovenous therapies is to avoid having to remove the Vena saphena magna or Vena saphena parva (or other veins) by surgical operation. Instead these veins are closed with special catheters which makes incisions in the groin or the hollow of the knee unnecessary.

The affected vein is punctured and a catheter inserted. The catheter is guided into the correct position by ultrasonic visualisation. Heat is gently applied to the affected vein which in turn contracts and disintegrates within a few months. Thus, the damaging reflux is eliminated.

As of today, two endovenous methods are available: endovenous laser ablation and radiofrequency ablation called ClosureFast (CLF).

We apply the ClosureFast Method, as this method is almost painless in contrast to current laser-technologies.
