The principle of the laser therapy is to close the Vena saphena magna or Vena saphena parva by applying heat through the emission of laser light.
A glass fibre is inserted below the knees (Vena saphena magna) or near the lower third of the calf (Vena saphena parva) and pushed forward to the groin or the hollow of the knee. Laser energy is transmitted through the optical fibre and applied to the affected vein. The affected vein contracts and finally closes up, the damaging reflux is eliminated.
Compared to the ClosureFast method, current laser technologies have the disadvantage, that it tends to invoke bruises along the affected vein which, in turn, initiates post operational pain. In addition, heat emission of the laser is higher than with the ClosureFast method.
Therefore, we prefer to apply the ClosureFast method.
